Team Wildcat was conscripted to provide the area of
Jefferson Township, in Northern Wells County, with a new commercial building
that would be a viable contribution to the enjoyment of the community as a
whole. Team Wildcat must design a
building or group of buildings with the total area to be retained to 15,000
square feet, or less. The site is meant
to be a place of social commerce, while still meeting the 2009 IBC code
requirements presented for it. To begin the project, Team Wildcat gathered together to brainstorm ideas for possibilities of a commercial building. Ideas ranged from an internet cafe to an indoor paintball arena. Our team then used a decision matrix to compare the ideas to each other and to the property as it is. This helped Team Wildcat to get a broader view of the project and how the ideas stack up to each other on an objective scale. Based on the decision matrix, the constraints of the project, and the general consensus of Team Wildcat as a whole, we chose to build a YMCA on the plot of land that we were given. Our team met once again to design a conceptual Gantt chart to divide the work and assign to the members of the team. Risa was the primary building designer, Brinson was the landscape architect and parking lot designer, and Max dealt with the paper work. As we continued our individual work on the project, team members would converse about different aspects of the project to be up-to-date on the progress of the project, and make sure to adhere to any changes that were made.
